BBL/IPL Photo Facial

IPL Photo Facial

As the skin ages, its appearance begins to dull, wrinkle, and develop uneven tone and pigment. Over time, topical creams and skin care products become less helpful for reducing the appearance of blemishes, lines and irregularities, leading many to seek out more effective treatment options that will deliver significant improvements without an invasive procedure or a lengthy recovery period. Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is often the answer, providing younger looking and more rejuvenated skin with no downtime at all.

IPL photofacials work by using concentrated light to stimulate collagen production and constrict the blood vessels deep beneath the surface of the skin. It is a non-ablative, in-office procedure that uses high energy light waves to target dark pigmentation in the skin. No skin is removed or damaged during treatment, as the IPL is designed to stimulate deep tissues beneath the skin.
IPL photofacials can help improve the appearance of many skin conditions, including:

  • Rosacea
  • Freckles
  • Liver spots
  • Broken capillaries
  • Large pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Smoke damage
  • Sun damage
  • And more!

The entire procedure typically takes about 30 minutes and involves very little discomfort. Most patients describe only a mild pinching sensation during the treatment.

Recovery and Results

There is no recovery or downtime associated with IPL photofacials. In fact, patients can return to work immediately after the procedure with little more than a slightly flushed appearance in the hours following treatment. Patients enjoy skin that is softer and smoother, with results that continue to improve over the course of several weeks.
IPL photofacial results continue to improve with each additional treatment. Though individual needs will vary, most patients will require approximately five IPL sessions to achieve the desired outcome. Photofacials should be spaced a few weeks apart for optimal results. IPL photofacial treatment results can be prolonged by avoiding sun exposure and using proper skin care techniques.

There are always risks associated with any medical procedure – even mild cosmetic treatments. However, IPL photofacials are simply the administration of light focused at varying wavelengths. The FDA considers this very safe when performed according to manufacturer instructions and under the guidance of a board certified physician.
