Dermal Fillers: Juvederm, Restylane Silk, Bellafill, Voluma, Radiesse, & Sculptra
Age is no friend of the skin. With every year that passes, more and more signs of age appear, from fine lines and wrinkles to sagging and redness. Thanks to dermal fillers, it is now possible to counteract those effects with products that smooth and volumize the skin. We offer only the best in dermal fillers, each of which offers varying benefits and results. Our goal is to match patients with the dermal filler that will most effectively address their problem areas and long-term treatment goals.
Some of the dermal fillers we offer in Largo include:
Bellafill – Bellafill gives immediate correction with a natural look. It contains collagen that immediately adds volume to smooth away facial wrinkles while the PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) microspheres help your skin re-create its own firmer structure for a more youthful appearance. Bellafill has been proven to last for at least 5 years and is considered to be a more permanent, long-lasting filler. Bellafill can be used in most areas of the face except for the lips. This product has also been FDA approved for the correction of distensible facial acne scars on the cheek for patients over the age of 21 years.
Restylane – Restylane contains hyaluronic acid, which helps draw moisture into the tissues beneath the surface of the skin. There are several dermal fillers in the Restylane family of products, including Restylane, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Silk. Each is used to correct moderate and severe facial folds, and some can be used to add volume to the lips.
Juvederm – Juvederm also contains hyaluronic acid and used to correct moderate and severe wrinkles and facial folds. We offer both Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma, the latter of which can be used to add volume and contour to the face.
Radiesse – Radiesse contains microsphere technology that add immediate volume and also help to encourage natural collagen production when injected beneath the skin. Radiesse is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe facial folds as well as volume loss on the backs of the hands.
Belotero – Belotero is a smooth gel that contains hyaluronic acid. Once injected into the skin, Belotero helps to fill in etched-in lines and wrinkles, such as those that form above and around the lips. The result is a softer, but still natural-looking appearance.
Sculptra – Sculptra Aesthetic is a type of facial injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to replace lost collagen. It helps correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles, and folds that appear with aging by replacing lost collagen. The main ingredient is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades.
All dermal fillers are administered from the comfort of our office. We will first assess and map your face, determining which areas can benefit from augmentation. We will then cleanse the injection site before administering the filler. Depending on the type of injection, we may apply a topical or local anesthetic to help alleviate discomfort during the procedure. While dermal injections are not painless, most patients find that they are easily tolerated. Most Largo dermal injection appointments take only a few minutes and can be completed during a typical lunch break.
Recovery and Results
There is minimal discomfort associated with dermal filler procedures and generally no downtime. In most cases, patients can return to work or other activities the same day. Depending on the extent of treatment, there may be some swelling immediately following a dermal filler injection, but it is usually well-managed with an ice pack.
All of the dermal fillers we use at our office are FDA-approved as safe for use. However, there are risks associated with any cosmetic procedure, including dermal filler injections. Allergic reactions and the formation of very tiny bumps under the skin are possible, as are more rare complications, such as skin discoloration. It is important to get dermal fillers from a qualified physician who can assess the safety of each filler for your individual needs and skin type. The risks of complications go up significantly when a cosmetic treatment is performed by an unqualified person instead of a medical professional.
